Characteristics
Secured part of the fifth stage of the Berliner Höhenweg long-distance route at the Schönbichler Horn summit crossing. The rope is stretched several tens of meters from both sides of the ridge. The path is not technically demanding, but it overcomes a large elevation gain. On the secured section itself, you will overcome only less than 100 meters in height, but getting to the via ferrata requires climbing more than a thousand meters vertically and descending as well.
Arrival
From Mayrhofen via Ginzling either to the parking lot at the Alpengasthaus Breitlahner or to the parking lot at the Schlegeisspeicher dam, where there is an entrance fee.
Onset
From the parking lot at the Alpengasthaus Breitlahner along the marked path through the Alpenrosehütte (3h15m + 3h) or through the Berliner Hütte (4h + 3h), both of which offer the possibility to spend the night, or from the parking lot at the dam along the marked path through the Furtschaglhaus (2h30m + 1h30m), where it is also possible to spend the night.
Descent
Along one of the boarding roads. A bus runs between the two parking lots and continues to Ginzling and Mayerhofen.
